A dedicated trailer line, backed by an established aluminum manufacturer.
Rugged Aluminum Trailers is manufactured by FWM Inc. in Hudson, New Hampshire. FWM has produced aluminum systems across industrial fabrication, dock systems, and custom manufactured products since 1975. Rugged launched in 2017 as its factory-direct trailer line.
The Rugged process connects selection, pricing, written Build Order review, production, inspection, and delivery without a dealer handoff. Buyers can configure from 26 current models online, then choose clearly priced Rugged Home Delivery or $0 factory pickup.

50 years of aluminum, across demanding work.
For over 50 years FWM Inc. has worked with aluminum across industrial fabrication, dock systems, and custom manufactured products. Rugged trailers draw on that same New Hampshire manufacturing team.
Every trailer rides on an all-aluminum structural frame, so the load-bearing structure is corrosion-resistant — not corrosion-proof. Some parts aren't aluminum: the axle, coupler, brakes, and some decking components are specified per build. Aluminum's corrosion resistance helps a trailer hold its value over years of use.
Why aluminum wins over steel.
How an all-aluminum frame compares to a typical steel-frame trailer across the things that matter over a trailer's life.
| Attribute | This isAluminum | VersusSteel |
|---|---|---|
| Corrosion | Corrosion-resistant | Rust and corrosion |
| Durability | Designed for long-term ownership | Frame life depends heavily on corrosion control |
| Weight | Lower empty weight for a comparable size | Typically heavier for a comparable size |
| Tow vehicle | Lower trailer weight can preserve available towing capacity | More of the tow rating may be used by trailer weight |
| Service life | No steel-frame rust in the aluminum structure | Steel-frame corrosion can shorten working life |
| Resale value | Often retains value well when maintained | Condition and corrosion strongly affect resale |
Where the trailers come from.
Real construction details from our New Hampshire build floor — not renderings. Aluminum is corrosion-resistant; builds may include steel coupler, axle, and brake components.

Fabrication quality
Gusseted welds on the frame rail, over tandem axles and aluminum mod wheels.

Sourced, not skimped
We specify rated couplers, sealed lighting, and aluminum wheels rather than treating bought components as an afterthought.

Aluminum decking
Extruded aluminum deck planks, where specified for the build.

LED lighting
Sealed LED lamps with wiring routed through the frame.

Torsion axle
Independent torsion suspension without exposed leaf-spring hardware.

Aluminum wheels & fenders
Corrosion-resistant aluminum mod wheels and aluminum fenders.
Industrial fabrication experience behind the trailer team
Built by a manufacturing team whose industrial work includes qualified welding procedures and code-controlled fabrication. This describes the team's broader manufacturing experience; it does not represent that each trailer is individually code-certified.
