Aluminum vs. steel over five years
A useful five-year comparison starts with similarly equipped trailers and includes purchase price, maintenance, and eventual resale. An aluminum frame avoids the steel-frame rust remediation covered in our aluminum vs. steel guide. It still needs care: axles, brakes, bearings, couplers, and other steel running gear remain maintenance items.
There is no universal payback number. Use, salt exposure, storage, maintenance, and the resale market all affect ownership cost. Compare your actual equipment needs first, then use the ownership-cost framework to weigh the upfront difference against the work the trailer will do.
Pricing questions
- Is the base price the price I pay?
- The base price covers the standard model. Selected options and delivery can change the total. Build & Price itemizes your configuration before payment; custom work without a published price requires a written quote.
- What does delivery cost?
- Enter your ZIP in Build & Price to see the estimated delivery charge, any eligible Rugged delivery credit, and the combined trailer and delivery total. Factory pickup has no delivery charge. Some destinations need a specialist delivery quote. See how delivery works.
- How much is the deposit?
- The amount due at secure checkout is a 25% order deposit. It remains refundable until you approve the final written Build Order. Rugged reviews your submitted configuration before approval, and any required changes are presented in a written revision. See the order and refund terms.
- Do prices change after I reserve?
- When Rugged issues a 14-day price hold, it covers the exact configuration and pickup or delivery price shown, starting when the hold is issued. Changing the model, options, quantities, fulfillment choice, or delivery ZIP requires current pricing. Begin a new secure checkout at least 35 minutes before expiry. A hold does not reserve inventory or a production slot. Any revised order requires your approval before production.
