What’s the best trailer for my Side by Side or UTV?

Are you in the market for a trailer to haul your UTV or Side by Side? The Rugged Aluminum Trailer line offers the perfect solution for your needs with our 6.5′ x 14′ and 6.5′ x 16′ models. Choosing the right trailer is important to ensure the safety and stability of your UTV or Side by Side during transport. Here are a few tips to consider when selecting a trailer for your UTV or Side by Side:

1. Check the load rating:

Compare the weight of your UTV or Side by Side, accessories, and gear with the load rating of the trailer. Make sure the trailer can handle the weight of your UTV or Side by Side and all its contents.

2. Consider the size:

Make sure the trailer deck is large enough for your UTV or Side by Side. Our 6.5′ x 14′ and 6.5′ x 16′ trailers are the perfect size for most four-seater UTVs or Side by Sides, which are at least 146 inches long. Keep in mind that you may want to transport other items on the trailer, such as spare tires or additional equipment, so consider going with a longer trailer for added space. The width of the trailer should also be taken into account, as most UTVs or Side by Sides are 60+ inches wide, although some models may be wider. A trailer that is 6.5′ feet wide should suffice.

3. Decide between open or enclosed:

An open trailer is typically more affordable, lighter weight, and easier to clean, but it won’t protect your UTV or Side by Side from the elements. On the other hand, an enclosed trailer will offer protection for your UTV or Side by Side, but it will be heavier, more expensive, and may have less space for other items. Consider your needs and budget when making this decision.

4. Pay attention to weight distribution:

Proper weight distribution is important when trailering your UTV or Side by Side. Generally speaking, 60 percent of the cargo weight should be loaded in the front half of the trailer, and the UTV or Side by Side should be centered left to right. Check your trailer’s owner’s manual for more information.

5. Choose a specialty trailer:

The Rugged Aluminum Trailer line offers a variety of trailers specifically designed for UTVs and Side by Sides. These trailers may offer features that are tailored to your needs, such as the number of axles or style of ramp.

Don’t forget to consult your owner’s manual for your vehicle’s dimensions, and seek out resources online or through the manufacturer for more information on selecting and using a trailer. If you are ready to get pricing check out our Build & Price tool for a free quote today.
